William L. Altimus

William L. Altimus, 82, Belsano, died Dec. 2, 2014, at Home. Born Jan. 28, 1932, in Belsano, where he lived most of his life, son of the late Russell and Grace (Helman) Altimus. Preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd and Benjamin; and sister, Patricia Hoffman. Surviving are his wife, the former Agnes Gunter, Belsano; daughters, Tammy J. (John) Stiffler, Parker, Colo.; Roxann L. (Douglas) Baughman, Aurora, Colo.; and Billie (Jack) Haun, Aurora, Colo.; stepchildren, Ronald (Kimberly) Stiffey, Indiana, Pa.; Kimberly (Brian) Shaffer, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; Brenda (Bradley) Misner, Strongstown; Christine (Jody) Rainey, Penn Run; Susan (Andrew) Dzurko, Greensburg; and Roy Stiffey Jr., New Kensington; and 13 great-grandchildren. Brother of Harry (Margaret) Altimus and Doris Jean Kisic, all of Belsano; Oren (Dorthy) Altimus, Johnstown; James (Kaye) Altimus, Ellerbe, N.C.; Janet (Frank) Janosik, Acckeek, Md.; and Richard (Helen) Altimus, Newburg, Md. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 33 years and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a gentle and loving son, husband, father and grandfather. Family will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at noon Saturday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, the Rev. Dr. Frank Brosius, officiating. Interment to follow at Belsano United Brethren Cemetery. Military service will be conducted by the local veterans organizations.
