Thelma Machuta

Machuta- Thelma Iline, 88, Nanty Glo, passed away peacefully at home on July 22, 2019. When the Angels came and took you to Heaven on their wings this day, I lost the best friend and mother in the world. When its my turn to fly like the wind, we can meet in Heaven, and be together again. I cared and eased your suffering to the end, your caregiver and son David. Thelma was born March 29, 1931 to the late Gilbert and Viola (Davis) Hopfer. Preceded in death by husband Edward J. Machuta, Sr., daughter Mary (Machuta) Keilman, great grandchildren Ashley and Kenneth Mason, Jr., sisters Alberta (Hopfer) Reese, Rhea and Barbara Hopfer, brothers Sherman and Raymond Hopfer, sons-in-law Bill Boring, Curt Conrad, and Gary Powell. Survived by Children Linda Boring, MO; Betty (George) Mason, Clymer; Jim (Lucy) Machuta, Johnstown; Shirley Conrad, South Fork; David P. Machuta, caregiver with whom she resided, Nanty Glo; Nancy (Ryan) Walk, Cardiff; Edward (Deborah) Machuta, Jr., Strongstown; Richard (Sheila) Machuta, Sr., Nanty Glo; Tammy Machuta, Barnhart, Texas; Tim Machuta, Maine. 22 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren. Brothers Lawrence and Ed Hopfer. Sisters Charmaine (Earl) Edwards and Darlene Bopp, numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma raised 11 children and was a good mother and wife, when she could she liked to go to the casinos, and to Missouri to see her daughter Diane. She also liked to go to flea markets, yard sales, The Thrift Store, and goodwill to find stuff to make wind chimes. She also liked to shop and Chinese food, and like the Hopfer Reunions. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where a Liturgical Wake Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be Friday, 10 AM, St Mary’s Church, Fr. Leonard Voytek, the Celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
