Nedrich-Ronald J., Sr., "Monk," 75, Nanty Glo, passed away May 25, 2022 at Maple Winds, Portage. He was born March 18, 1947 in Johnstown. Son of the late Michael and Julia (Korlinchick) Nedrich. Preceded in death by wife Sandra (Bruno) Nedrich. Monk is survived by sons Ronald (Jennifer) Nedrich and Todd Nedrich (Candice Fallone). Grandchildren Nicole, Lillie, and Joseph. Siblings Betty Geisler, Gerald (Bertha) Nedrich, and Daniel Nedrich. Member of St. Mary’s Church, Nanty Glo. Monk as he was known to his family and friends was “old school.” He believed, loved, and served God, country, and family. Sunday mornings he would be found sitting in his “regular seat” at the 8 o’clock Mass. He was a decorated combat Vietnam Army Veteran. He was most happy when his sons and grandchildren would visit him or when they talked on the phone. Like many in this area, Monk was a proud coal miner and belonged to the UMWA Local 1386. He also looked forward to his weekly “Breakfast Club” meetings with his four brothers-in-law. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where Liturgical Wake Services will be held. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Nanty Glo, Fr. Leonard Voytek, the Celebrant. Interment to be held at the convenience of the family. Veterans Services will be conducted by the Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks, and VIntondale Ritual Team.
