Richard Agagliati

Richard Agagliati, 92, Nanty Glo, passed away May 14, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born March 9, 1924 in Park Hill. Son of the late Ermino and Paulina (Scappino) Agagliati. Preceded in death by sister Angeline Johns and brother Mario Agagliati. Survived by loving wife of 66 years the former Dorothy Kovach, Nanty Glo. Devoted children Kathryn wife of Ronald Rusinak, Westmont; Richard and wife Chris (Millward) Agagliati, Nanty Glo. Beloved grandson Ross Richard Agagliati and fiance Cassandra Sabo, Pittsburgh; Sister Rose Lashinsky, Ebensburg; Brother Leroy (Mary) Agagliati, Ct. Numerous nieces and nephews. Sisters-in-law Shirley Kovach, Donna Kovach, Rosanna and husband Leonard Harp. Member of St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo. He was the former owner and operator of The Little Wheel Tavern, Nanty Glo, originally started by his father. Richard was a World War II Navy Veteran, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He was very proud of his service and was never seen without his veterans ball cap. Life member of the former VFW Post #3489 Nanty Glo. Member of the Nanty Glo American Legion Post #619, Nanty Glo Fire Comp., Blue Goose Sportsman's Club, Nanty Glo Rod and Gun Club, Italian Sons of Italy, and long time member of the Ebensburg Bowling League. Pap enjoyed hunting, fishing, Pirates and the Steelers, and playing cards with his buddies well into the night. Although many of his friends have preceded him in death there are still so many members of his community who regard Pap with great respect to this day. Family and friends will be received at Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, Sunday 7-9 and Monday 10 until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo, Rev. Fr. Leonard Voytek, the Celebrant. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Military services will be conducted by Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks, and Vintondale Ritual team. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary's Parish, Nanty Glo, South Branch Fishing Club, 1213 3rd St. Nanty Glo, Pa 15943, Conemaugh Hospice, or Palliative Care The family would like to give a very special thanks to Fr. Leonard Voytek, Eucharstic Ministers Mary Ann and David, Palliative Care and Conemaugh Hospice, Dr. Tatarko, Dr. Koh, Dr. Wilson, Dr. Patel and the Ebanjieff staff, and Eileen Graham, and Pap's wonderful caregivers Helen, Debbie and Breanne, extended family members, kind neighbors and friends. Our beloved Pap fought a long courageous battle with numerous debilitating health issues, which he accepted with quiet dignity and courage. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith.
