Shaner-Rhea Ann Shaner, 80, a resident at Cambria Care Center, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away Oct. 20, 2020. She was born May 27, 1940 in Johnstown. Daughter of the late Wesley Anthony and Annie (Hill) Shaner. Preceded in death by brother Wilford Edgar Shaner; sisters Dorothy Eleanor (Irvin) Wissinger and Myrtle Grace (James) Alexander. Nephew Robert Merritt (Stephanie) Wissinger; niece Karen Ann Alexander and nephew James Crenson Alexander, III, and fiancée Thorton Henry. Rhea worked at the Cambria Dress Factory for 20 years. Rhea was a member of Nanty Glo United Methodist Church, where she played the organ and also played in later years at the Cardiff Road Church of God, Nanty Glo.  There she was able to play along side her sister Grace accompanied on the piano. She had a love and natural talent for music that spanned her entire lifetime, a talent which she was happy to share with many. When she became a resident of the Cambria Care Center she shared her gift of music with the residents. It was a rare treat to be able to see her continue to play and to watch the residents sing beloved songs from their past. Rhea’s wishes were to be cremated. There will be no viewing. A small Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to Cardiff Road Church of God, 1060 Cardiff Rd., Nanty Glo, Pa 15943 or Grane Hospice, 115 Union Ave., Altoona, Pa 16602. Arrangements are in care of the Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo.
