Michael F. Olsavsky, 96, Nanty Glo, passed away June 5, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center. Born in St. Michael, son of the late Michael Olsavsky and Stephania (Sekerak) Olsavsky-Scott and stepfather, Andrew Scott. Preceded in death by beloved wife of 54 years, the former Anna V. Nigborowicz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph; Ignatius, and wife, Irene; Peter, and wife, Pauline; Andrew Scott, and wife, Catherine; and John Scott; brothers-in-law, Walter and Joseph Nigborowicz; sister-in-law, Mary A. Skutch; and nephew, Joseph Olsavsky. Surviving are his daughter, Angela, wife of James Semetosky; granddaughter, Jamie Ann; and grandson, Michael, married to the former Laura McMillien, Florissant, Mo.; sisters, Mary, wife of George Zelinsky; and Sister Agnes Scott, CSA; brother, William Scott, and wife, Shirley; sister-in-law, Margaret Olsavsky; and brothers-in-law, John Nigborowicz, and wife, Wanda; and George Skutch; also numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Marys Church, Nanty Glo, where he attended Mass and prayed the rosary daily until becoming ill. He was a retired coal miner and a staff sergeant in the Air Force, having served during World War II. Life member of Holy Name Society, Nanty Glo Moose, Lodge 207 and Nanty Glo Polish Club. He devoted his life to his family, dearly loved his grandchildren and enjoyed gardening. He will be sadly missed. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where Liturgical Wake will be held Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Marys Church, the Rev. Father Martin A. Cingle, celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Marys Cemetery. Veterans service will be conducted by the local veterans organizations.
