Mary (Lawrence) Tanchick

Mary (Lawrence), 93, Nanty Glo, died Dec. 2, 2013, at home. Born Sept. 14, 1920, in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Martin and Stella Lawrence. Preceded in death by husband, Andy, whom she was married to for 51 years; brothers, John, Steve and Frank; and sisters, Catherine Hildabrand, Julie Vargo, Ann Pomputius and Helen Wharton. Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by children, Albert (Kathy) Tanchick, Rochester, N.Y.; and Kathy Ray, Nanty Glo; grandchildren, Shawn (Ann) Ray, Summerhill; Tom (Margaret) Tanchick, Pittsford, N.Y.; and Kassy (Jessie) Knutson, Santa Clara, Calif.; and great-grandchildren, Gracie and Connor Ray; Christiana, Matthew and Liam Tanchick; and River Knutson. Member of St. Mary's Church and Altar Rosary Society. Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, going to church and shopping. Friends received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where liturgical wake will be held Wednesday. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church, the Rev. Father Leonard Voytek, celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
