Mary A. Luther, 89 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 5th, 2022 at Brookdale Assisted Living Colonial Heights, Kingsport, TN. Born April 25, 1933 in Nanty Glo, PA, she was the daughter of the late Serafino and Elide (Pozzi) Palmonari. Preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Howard C. Luther, Sr, son, Howard C. Luther Jr., Sister, Yolanda Bishop and brother-in-law Joseph, and brother, Dr. Ugo Palmonari and sister-in-law, Vinnie Palmonari. Survived by son, Mark and wife, Carolyn (Paul) Luther, Dundalk, MD, daughter, Leanne Miller and husband, Henry Miller, Bluff City, TN, granddaughter, Lauren Miller and Tom Dube, Queens, NY and grandson, Matthew and wife Victoria (Cox) Miller, Knoxville TN, niece, Janet Staab, Swedesboro, NJ. She was a member St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nanty Glo, PA. She graduated from Nanty Glo High School Class in l951 and went on to graduate from Cambria Rowe Business College, Johnstown, PA. Mary was the owner operator of the family business, Palmonari’s Grocery Store in Nanty Glo which she continued to run until her children were grown and off to college several decades ago. She returned to work at Johnstown Bank and Trust and later was employed by the Johnstown Housing Authority as a certified Public Housing Authority Manager and held various other administrative positions where she then retired in her seventies. Mary enjoyed working with the public and being with people. When out, she would always run in to someone she knew. Mary had a love of polkas and dancing which she had enjoyed with her husband. As she aged, she appreciated watching others dance and listening to music. Mary also enjoyed camping and boating at Lake Raystown, gardening and shopping for a bargain. She loved to cook for her family and was an excellent Italian cook. She loved to hear about her grandchildren and was an encouragement in their life. Mary was a prayer warrior for her family and was quick to Praise the Lord. We would like to thank special friends and neighbors for their love shown to Mary and her family over the years: Brad and Pam Cooper and their children Abby and Andrew, Hannah Rouzer, Butch and Carol Rodkey, Angela Shoemaker, Ron and Diane Kline, Tim and Dana Rodkey, Ellen Hakanen and Billy Divido. A special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Colonial Heights and Smokey Mountain Hospice for the loving care that they gave Mary. The care they provided went beyond what any family would want. Family will receive friends from 3 to 6 pm on Friday, October 14th, at Bowser- Ondriezek Funeral Home, 1102 Cardiff Rd., Nanty Glo. Funeral Mass at 10:00am on Saturday, October 15th at St Mary’s Church, Nanty Glo, Rev. Father Leonard E. Voytek, celebrant. Committal, Holy Name Mausoleum, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Church,1020 Caroline St., Nanty Glo, PA 15943 or Smokey Mountain Hospice, 106 Ferrell Ave. #1, Kingsport, TN 37663.
