John Phillip Mazey

John Philip Jack Mazey Sr., 72, Strongstown, died Nov. 13, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center. Born April 30, 1943, son of the late John Morton and Betty Mae (Kunkle) Mazey. Preceded in death by first wife, Pricilla Elizabeth Mazey; second wife, Gloria (Hoover) Lightcap Mazey; sister, Iona Custer; and nephew, Craig Willoughby. Survived by children, John Mazey Jr., and wife, Colleen; Janette Starry, and husband, Frank; Joan Muir; Jacolynn Wright, and fiance, Scott Reed; Elvis Mazey; and Debra Lightcap Haile; grandchildren, Jessica Baskin, Jessica Mazey, Jennifer Mazey, Ashley Lewis, Damian Mellott, Abigail Mellott, Joey Mellott, Lizabeth Muir and Paige Starry; and great-grandchildren, Abigail and Nichloas Moss. Brother of Barbara Willoughby and Thomas Maurawski; also survived by nieces and nephews, Barry Lee Custer, and wife, Donna; Melinda Heming; John Custer, and wife, Jessica; Donna Decker, and husband, Michael; Barbara Nichols, and husband, Tom; Chris Willoughby, and wife, Michele; friends and neighbors, Nelly, Paulette Parsley, and Johnna and Randy Rice. He retired from Tunnelton Mine. Jack was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 6986. He enjoyed gardening and helping others garden. Jack loved camping, fishing, and drawing. Friends will be received from 4 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Monday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, with the Rev. Norris Mason. Interment at the convenience of the family.
