LONG-AL AMEER – JoAnn. JoAnn went to her heavenly reward at 11:05 am on March 20th, 2022. She was 72 years young and lived her life to the fullest. She was married for 38 years to Jassim Mohamed Saleh Al Ameer. Jassim preceded her in death one year ago. Her professional career included time as an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh where she received her master’s degree in business administration and her doctorate in business and vocational education. She spent 30 years of her post -doctoral career residing in the country of Bahrain. During her time there she worked as a professor at the University of Bahrain and the Bahrain Training Institute, as the Quality Director for the College of Business Administration at the University of Bahrain, and was appointed the interim Dean of the Royal University for Women in Bahrain. After returning to the United States, JoAnn served as the Certification Consultant at viLogics. JoAnn was adventurous. She loved to travel and explore other cultures and customs. She had amazing people skills and was as comfortable with royalty as she was with her family and friends. JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Jassim; her parents Richard and Mary (Forcellini) Long as well as her “favorite” Uncle James (Marty) Long. She was the proud stepmother to Salah, Maha, Deena, May, and Soha Al Ameer and the proud step grandmother to 23 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was a loving sister to Morine Long, and Sabrina (Shawn) Long Campaniello. The entire Long and Al Ameer families would like to thank everyone who sent prayers and condolences our way. We want to express our appreciation to the staff on Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Intensive Care Unit, the inpatient rehabilitation team at Crichton Rehabilitation Center, and Windber Hospice. Each of these teams provided excellent care and amazing support and empathy during a very difficult time. Additional thanks to Dr. Michaeleen Wilson for her compassion and caring, Dr. Michael Voloshin and Dr. Ali M. Tunio for their compassionate care. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 AM till the time of Funeral Service at 1PM at Bowser Ondriezek Funeral, Nanty Glo. In lieu of flowers, Joann asked that donations be made to the local humane society, Wounded Warriors, St. Jude. and St Mary’s Church.
