Jassim went to his heavenly reward at 1 p.m. on March 18th 2021. He was 81 years young and lived his life to the fullest. He was married for 38 years to JoAnn Long Al Ameer. His professional career in Bahrain included teaching, coaching many championship teams in soccer and serving as the Public Relations Manager for many years for Aluminium Bahrain (ALBA). Jassim had amazing people skills; he was equally comfortable with escorting kings from various Middle Eastern countries around ALBA and chatting with the man who sold kebabs and khobus around the corner. Jassim was preceded in death by his parents, Mohamed Saleh Al Ameer and Fatima Haji Jassim; his in-laws, Richard and Mary (Forcellini) Long; his first wife, Khiriya Abdulrahman Saati, his grandson, Nasser Ebrahim; his favorite uncle, Ghuloom Haji Jassim; and his special extended family members, George and Denise Oblinsky. He was the proud father of his son Salah (Fatima) Al Ameer, his daughters Maha (Awadh) Al Ameer, Deena (Ali) Al Ameer, May (Ebrahim) Al Ameer and Soha (Yaqoob) Al Ameer. His growing family includes 23 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was a loving brother to Dr. Ahmed and Jamil and sisters Faiqa and Fahima; and an adored brother-in-law to Morine Long and Sabrina (Shawn) Long Campaniello. The entire Al Ameer family thanks everyone who sent prayers and condolences our way. We want to express our appreciation to some very special people in Jassim’s life: Khalifa Buachala – Jassim’s Bahraini ‘brother’ with whom he had a special bond for many years. Jamil Hassan – Jassim’s Kuwaiti ‘brother’ and travel companion here in the US. His wife Cindy was responsible for introducing the two and forging a beautiful enduring friendship. We want to thank the doctors and nurses in the Conemaugh ICU and Palliative Care Departments whose empathy and excellent care made an intolerable situation a little more bearable. Special thanks to the Blacklick Valley EMTs who gave Jassim a second chance at life, and Dr. Michaeleen Wilson for taking care of our family over the past six years. Additionally, we are forever grateful to Tony Warynovich of Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home for handling all the details of Jassim’s service to allow us to follow Muslim practices.
