Isaac Emil Isaacson

Isaac Emil Ike Isaacson, 67, Nanty Glo, passed away Feb. 28, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Johnstown on May 4, 1948. Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alana (Lanie) Isenberg; father, Isaac Emil Isaacson; and in-laws, Richard and June Millward. Survived by his wife of 45 years and high school sweetheart of 50 years, June Ann (Millward) Isaacson, and his children, Jennifer (Chris) Caracciolo (Ga.); Nathan (Jill) Isaacson; Dan (Kristin) Isaacson; and Breanne (Daniel) Isenberg. Also his grandchildren, Griffin and Isabella Caracciolo, Connor and Lucas Isaacson, Rilyn and Mason Isaacson and Keira and Ali Isenberg. As well as his mother, Delores Isaacson; sister, MaryAnn (Estay) Greene; brother-in-law, Richard (Babs) Millward; sisters-in law, Mary (Jim) Olstein, Susan Millward, Chrissi (Rick) Agagliati and Faith (Jeff) Wiegman; nieces and nephews, Richard Millward, Estay (Rebecca) Greene, James Olstein, Carissa (Carlos) Garcia, Amanda Millward, Aaron Olstein, Bryant Greene, Ross Agagliati and Lauren Wiegman; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Emil was a graduate of Bishop Carroll High School, where he maintained lifelong friendships with members of his football team. He also served on his high school reunion committee, where Emil was looking forward to his 50th reunion this year. Emil was a 1970 graduate of St. Francis College, where he majored in accounting and was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Emil was an auditor with the U.S. Department of Transportation in Harrisburg, and Charleston, W.Va. He held numerous positions with the U.S. Department of Interior, Office of Surface Mining in Johnstown, where Emil retired with 38 years of service as a reclamations specialist. Following retirement, he worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita in Texas, and Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey. Emil was a certified PIAA official/referee for close to 30 years for football, basketball, softball, baseball and volleyball, and he served as the secretary/treasurer for the Northern Cambria Chapter. Additionally, he was a Little League coach for 11 years, president of the Middle Cambria Baseball League and a coach for boys and girls basketball at St. Marys Catholic School. Emil was an active community volunteer. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, where he was a third degree Knights of Columbus, member of the finance and cemetery committees and looked forward to working the fish fries during Lent. He was a member of the Blacklick Township Recreation Authority Board of Directors, VFW, Legion and Moose. Emil also worked as the payroll accountant for Blacklick Township and served as the Blacklick Township constable. In retirement, he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, spending time with his beagle, Bob, hunting and walking on his land, spending time at the beach and traveling with his wife. Emil was a Civil War buff and enjoyed annually visiting Gettysburg, especially walking Picketts Charge with his family. The family is thankful for the care and support of Dr. Michael Tatarko and the clinic staff, Dr. Sbeitan and his staff and the Blacklick Valley Ambulance. Friends will be received at Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home, 1102 Cardiff Road, Nanty Glo, on Wednesday, March 2 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where a liturgical wake service will be held. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church, the Rev. Father Leonard Voytek. Interment will follow at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Twin Rocks.
