George D. Schilling

George D. Schilling, Jr., 74, Nanty Glo, passed away on Nov. 26, 2024, at home. He was born on Aug. 30, 1950, in Johnstown. Son of the late George and Elizabeth (Jones) Schilling, Sr. 

Preceded in death by Son George Schilling, III, brothers Greg “Snags” Schilling, Gary “Tunes” Schilling, and Gene “Bozo” Schilling. 

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maureen (McGlynn) Schilling; sons Chad (Melissa) Schilling, Scott (Jennifer) Schilling, and Jason Schilling; and grandchildren Ethan, Anna, and Adelore. He was the brother of Gerri (“Tip”) Howell and Bud (Kim) Schilling. 

He was a member of the UMWA Local #1386. George was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and loved to garden. He was a retired coal miner, having worked in mines #31 and #33. 

The memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, from 4 PM until the time of funeral services at 6 PM at the Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo. If we live, we live for the Lord and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. (Romans 14:8)
