Genevieve (Price) Scappino Nanty Glo, passed away peacefully at home on May 7, 2016, one day after her 90th birthday. Born May 6, 1926, in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Thomas and Lilly Price, she was the last surviving member of her family. Preceded in death by husband, Walter Aldo Scappino in 2003; brothers, Arthur, Thomas, William and Henry; sisters, Margaret Travis, Gwendolyn Gillis, Phyllis Greer and infant twin sister, Gladys Price. Survived by children, Janet (Michael) Bichko and Rosalie (James) Emerson; grandchildren, Jason Emerson, Jeremy Emerson, Joshua (Cortney) Emerson, Michael Bichko, Michele Bichko, Joel Emerson and Mario Bichko; two great-grandchildren, Brady and Lyla Emerson, who were the joy in her life; and numerous nieces and nephews. Genevieve loved spending time with her family and her loyal companion Yorkie 'Charie Brown.' She was a nurse at Lee Hospital in Johnstown for many years. She enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, her Birthday Card Club, and traveling. Genevieve was a member of the Nanty Glo United Methodist Church and Women's Fellowship; VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Women's Democratic Club, where she worked on the election board. Family and friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Nanty Glo United Methodist Church, Pastor Bill Warrick, officiating. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Nanty Glo. In lieu of flowers donations in Genevieve's name may be made to the Nanty Glo United Methodist Church.
