Francis "Frank" Scappino

Frank (Francis) Scappino, 70, passed away unexpectedly on September 8th 2021. He was born June 28, 1951 in Johnstown. Son of the late Carlo and Anne (Szabonya) Scappino. Preceded in death by siblings, Vincent, Angelina Tomlinson, Antoinette Lundburg, and Franceso. Frank is survived by his loving wife Joyce (Platt), daughters Jennifer (Mark) Mihalic, Melynda (Justin) Gradich, and Alison Milchak and grandchildren Hayden, Hunter and Gavin Mihalic, Paige and Tyler Gradich, and Crosby and Rhodes Wagner, siblings Mary Delesky, Mario Scappino, and Carlo (Virginia) Scappino and his mother-in-law Maurita Grimes. His love of cars and passion for speed were regularly shared (much to wife’s chagrin) with his daughters and grandkids and they have many fond memories of great adventures four wheeling, dirt biking, and boating with him where he always took a moment to teach them how things worked and how to fix things. He lived life to its fullest, always instilling the value of hard work and ingenuity in his family and taught them to find enjoyment in the simple things. He was proud of his heritage and instilled his love of food with everyone and passed on many family traditions that will carry on. He and his wife Joyce were fortunate to retire early, and over the last few years spent time living their dream of RVing, making many memories and new friends along the way. But the best part about Frank was his kindness, his loving nature and of course those great big bear hugs he would give you each time you saw him or said goodbye. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo. Funeral Mass will be Monday 10AM, at St. Mary’s Church, Nanty Glo. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family kindly requests using masks at the viewing and mass.
