Frances A.(Chiappini) Smidga, 87, Nanty Glo, died March 24, 2016, at Cambria Care Center. Born May 7, 1928, in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late John and Parry (Dino) Chiappini. Preceded in death by husband, William; daughters, Patricia McCormick and Regina Talerico; sisters, Josephine Croasmun and Domenica Chiappini; brother, Jeffery Chiappini; sons-in-law, James Litzinger, Arley Smith and Walter Wilkens; and brother-in-law, Jay Moore. Survived by children, Richard (Georgeanne) Smidga, Ravenna, Ohio; Mary Ann Litzinger, Ebensburg; Michael Smidga, Johnstown; Paula (Tom) McCain, Oil City; and Lisa (Douglas) Haney, Nanty Glo; son-in-law, Kenneth McCormick, Fallentimber; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Mazey, Vintondale; Linda Moore, Northfield, Ohio; Elizabeth Bearer, Nanty Glo; and Shirley Lundberg, Charles, Pa.; brothers, Anthony Chiappini, Johnstown; and Domenick (Dolores) Chiappini, Ohio: and John Chiappini, Nanty Glo; brother-in-law, Bill (Pat) Croasmun, Bedford, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo; the Women of the Moose, Chapter 516; and Sons of Italy. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where a liturgical wake will be held and where funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Father Leonard Voytek, celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Frances' family.
