Elsie (Mitchell) Emerson

Elsie Emerson , 94, Rehoboth Beach, Del., and formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, in Lewes, Del. Born Tuesday, June 12, 1917, in Carroll, Pa., daughter of the late James and Mary (O'Neil) Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Thomas "Bud" Emerson; son, Robert T. Laverick; and daughter-in-law, Jean (Churella) Laverick. Mrs. Emerson was a resident of Rehoboth Beach, Del., for the past 11 years, originating from Nanty Glo. She was a homemaker and the last surviving member of her large immediate family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Nanty Glo and a member of the former Ebensburg Chapter 303 of OES. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be sorely missed by all that knew her. Survived by son, James S., and wife, Rosalie (Scappino) Emerson, Nanty Glo; daughter, Betty Jean Meszaros, and husband, Thomas, Rehoboth Beach, Del.; grandchildren, Thomas; Robert, and wife, Jill; John, and wife, Stacy; Joseph, and wife, Chrissy; Jason; Jeremy, and wife, Monica; Gregory; Joshua, and wife, Courtney; and Joel; and great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Shaniah and Madison Laverick; Thomas, Kathryn and Jack Meszaros; and Brady and Lyla Emerson. Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 9, at First Baptist Church of Nanty Glo, 995 Second St., Pastor Geno Bartoletti, officiating. Interment will follow in Pike Brethren Cemetery, Mundys Corner. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, April 9, at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, 1102 Cardiff Road, Nanty Glo, Pa. 15943, with a viewing from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, April 6, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, Del.
