Edwin Dean Long, 75, Austin, formerly of Nanty Glo, died April 24, 2012, due to a automobile accident. Born March 16, 1937, in Nanty Glo, son of the late Samuel Blaine and Lillian (Tobin) Long. Preceded in death by sister, M. Agnes Long and Betty Dumm; infant brother, Carl; and brothers, Thomas Cassius Long and S. Richard Long. Survived by son, Shawn M. Long, and wife, Cathy (Yanosky); beloved grandson, Mackenzie Shawn Long; son, Kevin M. Long, and wife, Amy (Grant); precious granddaughter and grandson, Ainsley Elizabeth and Aiden Samuel Long; daughter, Danielle Denise Long, Mundys Corner; and brother, J. Martin Long, Nanty Glo. Dean also was survived by his "kittens," which were a special gift for his 75th birthday from Mac. He was a Wharton Township supervisor. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. Lifetime member, past commander, deputy commander and county president of Nanty Glo American Legion Post 619 and Society of 40 and 8. Member of United Food and Commercial Workers Union local 23, Pittsburgh. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo. Service will be held at noon Saturday at First Baptist Church, Nanty Glo the Rev. Pastor Geno Bartoletti, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southern Potter County Snowmobile Club or East Fork Sportsmen's Club. Veterans service will be conducted by the local veterans organizations.
