Carolyn Maria (Kubulek) Sobonya

Carolyn Maria Sobonya, 89, Twin Rocks, passed away May 9, 2017 at Arbutus Park Manor. Carolyn was born Jan. 19, 1928 in Timblin, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Bolents) Kubulek. Preceded in death by her husband Frank Fritz on November 21, 2007; sisters, Ann McDermott, Josephine Swift, Agnes Zwirz and Margaret Popp; daughter-in-law, Judy; and infant grandson Frank. She is survived by a sister, Veronica Eckert, Queens, NY; children, Frank (Jean Stolle), of Wilmington, Delaware, David (Karen Smith), of Cross Junction, Virginia, Richard (Tina Kriston), of Fairfax, Virginia, Michael (fiancee Lori Milanesi), of Twin Rocks, and Karen (Gregory Fordyce), of South Elgin, Illinois; grandchildren, Richard Jr. (Logan Mateer), Jessica, Bryan (Ashley Walker), Jennifer (Ryan Poulsen), Christina (Taylor Hugo), Courtney, Breonna (Stefan Debski), Isabella and Nathan; and great-grandchildren, Addison, Mason, Blair and Drew. Carolyn was a member of the Twin Rocks VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She also regularly volunteered and attended services at St. Charles Catholic Church in Twin Rocks before its closure, and later was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Nanty Glo. Carolyn was always caring for her family, and she loved canning, baking and cooking for them. She also enjoyed spending time in the garden, berry picking and playing bingo. Friends will be received at the Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, on Friday from 3-7, where a Liturgical Wake Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, 10:00 A.M. at St. Marys Church, Nanty Glo, Rev. Fr. Leonard Voytek, the Celebrant. Interment to follow in the St. Charles Cemetery, Twin Rocks.
