Mervine-Bernard Homer, "Gom", 83, Strongstown, passed away Aug.16, 2019 at Indiana Hospital. He was born June 2, 1936 in Strongstown. Son of the late Arthur and Marie (Hunter) Mervine. Preceded in death brothers Ronald Mervine and Melvin Mervine. Great Granddaughter Ayden Jane McKinley. Gom is survived by Children Debra (George) Younkin, Nanty Glo, Theresa (Gary) Holt, Shoals, IN, David (Stacy) Willett, Nanty Glo. Grandchildren Tiffany, Shannon, Ashley, Chelsea, Audrey, Lindsey, Janelle, Jennifer, Derek, Eli, and Cheyenne. 22 Great grandchildren. Special companion Bertha "Birdie" Lamer. Brother of Arthur "Petsy" Mervine, Catherine (Frank) Spotts, Sandra (Ronald) Frederick, Rosemary (George) Roles, and Aleene (Edward) Butterworth. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp. Gom was a member Moose Lodge 207, American Legion, Polish Club, all of Nanty Glo, Life time member of Twin Rocks VFW and Emporium VFW, and the Blue Goose Sportsman's Club. Retired from International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 66, Pittburgh. He Loved going to his camp in Cameron County. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, at Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where funeral Service will be held Monday 11 AM, Pastor Ken Brown, officiating. Interment to be held at the convenience of the family. Military services will be conducted by the Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks, and Vintondale Ritual Team.
